Enhanced Asymmetrically Clipped Optical OFDM for Next Generation PONs
We successfully demonstrate a novel enhanced asymmetrically clipped optical OFDM (eACO-OFDM) solution over a PON link. The proposed technique doubles the spectral efficiency of conventional ACO-OFDM at the expense of a slight increase in complexity. Asymmetrically clipped optical orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (ACO-OFDM) is a technique that sacrifices spectral efficiency in order to transmit an orthogonally frequency-division multiplexed signal over a unipolar channel, such as a directly modulated direct-detection fiber or free-space channel. Several methods have been proposed to regain this spectral efficiency, including: asym...
متن کاملTiming Synchronization Method for Asymmetrically Clipped DC Biased Optical OFDM System
In a typical intensity-modulated direct-detection optical system, the information is carried on the intensity of the optical signal, and therefore can only be positive. Existing synchronization methods for RF-based OFDM system cannot be used directly in asymmetrically clipped DC biased optical of DM (ADO-OFDM) system. In order to solve the above problem, according to the characteristics of ADO-...

SYSTEM DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF ASYMMETRICALLY AND SYMMETRICALLY CLIPPED OPTICAL (ASCO)-OFDM FOR IM/DD OPTICAL WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS by Nan Wu As the quantity of mobile communication devices, such as cellphones, tablets, and laptops, dramatically increase, the demand for high speed wireless service has been growing. Optical wireless communications (OWCs), which offer unlimited trans...
متن کاملRecovering clipped OFDM symbols with Bayesian inference
A major problem with multicarrier transmissions is the near Gaussian behavior of the data stream entering the High Power Ampli er (HPA). This causes distortion (some samples are clipped) that must be corrected at the transmit or receive end, in order to improve detection performance. In this paper, we propose a new approach that recovers the distorted samples at the receiver. It is based on an ...
